MONA,
GOMA....
HOTA!

HOTA

2021 marks the year a major contemporary art space opened on the Gold Coast. HOTA, or Home of the Arts, is a new five-level gallery — layer upon layer of contemporary art — with sprawling views of the coast. It represents a major investment in the burgeoning arts scene here on the coast.

To celebrate this opening, a few of us ventured north to experience the launch exhibition, “SOLID GOLD”, Artists from Paradise.

It was only a matter of time for a world-class gallery to open on the Gold Coast (after the Massive Gallery ;) so after a quick breakfast at the old St. Thomas Studio on Chevron island ( home of the first Golden Sans show) it was time to venture over the bridge.

We had chats about lake monsters and fluro pencils, we had opinions on opinions, but most importantly, we had time. Time away from computer screens, time away from projects and a much needed time-out. We weren’t seeking inspiration, or researching a project, we were just making time to connect as humans that work together outside of work.

So think about a team time-out and stepping away for a morning. The results can be solid gold.
