MORE HUMANS = <br> MORE SPACE <br> (IT’S SCIENCE)
An environment designed not only for work, but also connection.
(Now) three studios, multiple spaces and numerous dogs — welcome to EM HQ.
Back in the glorious age when planes flew far and often, and people went places, it was typical to have Australian-based collaborators fly in for working sessions. Most who visited were surprised that hidden amidst the Palm Beach melange, wedged between an always-empty Chinese buffet, community yoga centre, barbershop (not in any way fashionable) and the quintessentially Gold Coast exotic massage parlour — an oasis of refinement. A temple of concrete, ply and glass, more typical of a Melbourne loft than Queensland offices.
Yes, we’re quite fond of our studio. Designed not just for aesthetics or simply to work in — but to enjoy. An environment where our team is encouraged to create a creative mess; write on the walls, start a ritual, play their most awkward playlist, bring a plant, bring a dog, share a meal, shoot a video, or have a swim at lunch to re-inspire.
But recently, with the growth of the team, and Jen spending most days hunting for (and failing to find) a place to work, we realised it was time to expand. Even though we have a flexible ‘work from wherever’ policy*, most days the studio was still over capacity.
Yet the thought of moving elsewhere was simply unpalatable. So after some gentle persuasion (metalcore played full volume at irregular intervals)**, our next door neighbours at the injectables clinic (because: Gold Coast) moved on and EM opened three new spaces.
<Hands drumming desk> Introducing…
Little Gallery.
A shared space adorned with one of our resident illustration lord Teus’s illustrations. This is mostly a meeting place, sometimes conferencing space, setup to chat with collaborators from all over the globe.
Studio 42.
Finally, a dedicated photography and videography studio. This ensures we’re always ready to create content for our collaborator’s programs. Although so far it’s mostly been abused to shoot glamour portraiture of the office pooches.
The Nursery.
A place for nurturing the growth of Everyday Massive. This is where we dream big about the impact we can make, and come up with ways to make it happen. ‘Sow the seeds’, so to speak.
For our international collaborators, if you’ve ever wondered where we work — here’s a glimpse to sate your curiosity, though we’re also working on a full walk-through. And for our Australian friends, as things slowly shift back to normal — an invitation to come visit us. We’d love to see you outside a Zoom window.
* Ok, policy is a strong word. It’s actually part of our Work Without Boundaries manifesto, which you can read about here.
** We would never. Or would we?… 🤔
